Epidemic Sound raises $1M from Kichi Invest, adds Fredrik Wester on BOD.

Epidemic Sound, a Stockholm, Sweden-based company offering a music platform for composers and artists, announced adding $1M in equity investment from Kichi Invest.

The transaction values the company at $45M, twice as much as its $20M valuation from 2014, when the company raised $5M from Creandum. The investment will see Fredrik Wester, the owner of Kichi Invest, join the board at Epidemic Sound in its next phase of growth.

Epidemic Sound, founded in 2009 by Peer Åström, Jan Zachrisson, David Stenmarck and Oscar Höglund (CEO), has developed a visual content platform for music creators that have access to a library of 25k high-quality tracks. The company has 80 employees and offices in New York, Amsterdam, Madrid, Hamburg, and Stockholm.
