Megacool, an Oslo, Norway-based startup providing growth tools to acquire and retain players for mobile games, announced raising $1.5M in a new investment round.

The money comes from a range of investors, including Alliance Venture and will be used to further scale up its GIF-recording integration technology and hire more engineers.

Megacool, founded by Aurora Klaeboe Berg, Tarjei Husøy and Nicolaj B. Petersen (CEO) out of the mobile games studio Dirtybit, based in Bergen, Norway, has developed a set of customer acquisition solutions, using technology that provides ways to create a GIF from a game play and which can help developers make it easier for players to spread the word about their game. The company was in a closed beta until end of 2016, with a handful of studios and a total of 1.5 million monthly active users.

Megacool is based in Oslo and has an office in San Francisco.
