How do we get more women in finance?
Start the Wednesday at Arendalsuka with breakfast debate on how we can increase the women's share in the financial industry. Breakfast is served from 08.30 and the event starts at 09.00.
Norway is one of the world's most equal countries. Parts of the business experience nonetheless as not very diverse. 2017 figures from Statistics Norway show that the financial industry as a whole is gender-balanced, but that women are significantly under-represented in leading and high-paid positions. Figures from NHH and BI show that the schools have roughly the same gender distribution, but that the majority of students who choose financial subjects are men.
When more and more women take their place in key positions in Norway, it is good for gender equality, but also for the business: Companies with women in management on average deliver a 47 percent higher return on equity than those who do not, shows McKinsey's Women Matter report from 2017. Therefore, it is important that the financial industry hangs in the hour and manages to recruit the good heads of both sexes.
Why does the financial study lose the competition to attract female students?
