BitBar was acquired by the Americans from SmartBear Software.

Bitbar Technologies, a Helsinki, Finland-based provider of an advanced mobile app test automation platform and device cloud, announced that it was acquired by Somerville-based SmartBear Software from USA.

The financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Bitbar’s mobile app test platforms will become part of SmartBear’s growing product portfolio.

BitBar, founded in 1995 and led by CEO Marko Kaasila, built Testdroid, the most advanced cloud-based mobile development and testing service. The company supports a wide variety of frameworks used by developers (such as XCUITest and Espresso) and QA automation engineers (such as Appium), allowing them to automate tests with their framework of choice.

BitBar was backed by venture money, with investors including Creathor Venture, Draper Esprit, Finnvera, Innovestor Ventures, Inventure, Qualcomm Ventures and Business Finland.
