FirstVet, a Stockholm, Sweden-based company providing digital veterinary clinic services for animals, announced securing a €5.1M ($6M) capital investment.

The round was led by Swedish venture firm Creandum and included existing investors.

FirstVet was launched in 2016 as a spinoff from VetZoo, Sweden’s leading online store for pet owners. The company, led by CEO David Prien, provides video meetings with veterinarians who assist animal owners with advice, diagnosis, referral, and prescriptions, and has around 60,000 registered users in Sweden, its core market. FirstVet works closely with insurance companies who offer the service to their customers as a way to potentially reduce the risk of more major pet insurance payouts.

FirstVet is backed by seed money investment secured in 2016 at launching, coming from investors including Victor & Victor and Jacob Key.
