Flattr, a Malmö, Sweden-based startup providing a microdonations service for content, was acquired by Eyeo, the parent company behind AdBlock Plus. The financial terms of the transaction remained undisclosed.

Eyeo was already an investor of the company, having made a €300.000 convertible commitment in May 2016. Other Flattr investors include Passion Capital and Federico Pirzio-Biroli, which backed the company with €1.6M in 2012.

Flattr was founded in 2007 by Linus Olsson and Peter Sunde as an one-click service for making it easy for users to allocate a monthly payment to online publishers.
