GuruWalk to get €1 million from Ethos Investment Fund et all.
GuruWalk, a Valencia, Spain-based marketplace for tourist guides, announced closing in a €1 million ($1.1M) capital investment round.
The money was provided by a group of local investors, including mentors of the startup accelerator SeedRocket, and led by a fund from a group of Harvard alumni, Ethos Angel Investment Fund. This round has been complemented by a participatory loan of 300,000 euros from the Institute Valenciano de Finanzas.
GuruWalk, founded in 2017 and led by CEO Juan Castillo, developed an international community that offers pay-what-you-please walking tours, or free walking tours.
On the platform, travelers from all over the world have the chance to contact local guides for free. Tourists pay only a tip to the guide at the end of the tour. The tip varies based on the participant’s satisfaction with the experience offered by the guide.
