ST snaps up Atollic for $7M.

Atollic, a Jönköping, Sweden-based software-development tools specialist, announced getting into an agreement with STMicroelectronics for selling the company.

The transaction was made for a cash payment of $7M, and a deferred earn-out contingent on certain conditions, estimated at $1M.

STMicroelectronics is a French-Italian multinational electronics and semiconductor manufacturer headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It is commonly called ST, and it is Europe's largest semiconductor chip maker based on revenue.

Atollic, founded in 2003 and led by CEO Lars-Erik Stenkil, developed TrueSTUDIO, a professionally Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for the embedded development community focusing on Arm Cortex -M microcontrollers, like ST’s market-leading STM32 family of 32-bit microcontrollers (MCUs).
