Trine raises SEK 58M to expand its energy investment platform to East Africa and Europe.

Trine, a Gothenburg, Sweden-based fintech startup that operates a platform dedicated to crowd-financing solar energy projects across rural areas of Africa, announced raising SEK 58M ($6.9M) in an investment round.

The money comes from Gullspång Invest, Chalmers Ventures and local angel investors Sorosh Tavakoli and Lars Thunell, and will be used to further expand geographically.

Trine, founded in 2015 by Sam Manaberi, developed a digital investment platform where people fund solar energy projects from rural areas from Africa.

Prior to this transaction, the company raised $700k from investors such as Alexander Hars, Fredrik Olofsson, Paelle Stenberg and Chalmers Ventures.
