Vireo Energy (investor - Corporate Investor)

Vireo Energy is an investor in renewable energy production, primarily within the bioenergy area (ie generating energy from organic sources). Vireo's target market is bioenergy projects in Russia and Belarus.

Our business model is to develop, own and operate electricity and heat plants fired by biogas as well as projects that utilize solid biomass, such as small scale Combined Heat and Power (CHP).

Vireo Energy is part of Kinnevik, a Swedish investment company with a 80 year history of building companies. Kinnevik has about 30 portfolio companies operating across five continents in over 80 markets around the globe.

Fredrik Carlman is a founder of Vireo Energy and serves as CEO as of August 2015. Fredrik has worked extensively in cleantech investments towards Eastern Europe as an Investment manager at Swedfund, a self employed consultant in Russia and a project leader Swedish Trade Council Russia. Fredrik also has experience from McKinsey and Company, and with Venture Capital firm Arctic Ventures.
