Energimyndigheten, the Swedish Energy Agency, announced opening an energy business hub in San Francisco for Swedish innovative cleantech companies.
The hub was inaugurated by Isabella Lövin, minister for international development cooperation and climate change, and its objective is to prepare the Swedish companies for an international market through consulting and networking.
The San Francisco hub is the first of three international hubs financed by the Swedish Energy Agency and will be run in cooperation with Business Sweden. The other two are planned to be open in London and Shanghai.
Anneli Eriksson, Head of the Department of Business Development at Energy Agency:
"The hub is part of the Swedish export strategy. It is an experimental project, we will evaluate in two years. Then we want to see tangible results of what this kind of action could result"
The Swedish Energy Agency is subordinate to the Ministry of the Environment and Energy and also makes investments in private companies from the sector. Some of its investments include Mantex, CorePower Ocean or Watty.
