The Rising North (investor - Accelerator)

The Rising North is part of the priority project programme for the Finnish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers 2016 and aligns with the Nordic branding strategy.

The 3 year project is held between the years 2016-2018 and in total some 1.5 million euros have been reserved for the duration of the project.

The Rising North is a fund that supports the internationalization of the startup ecosystem in the Nordics.

Our mission is to accelerate and enable the internationalization of Nordic startups and entrepreneurs.

We support 5-15 selected projects each year that fulfill this goal. The projects are to directly support the internationalisation or brand value of the Nordic startups.

Projects are selected for acceleration on a continuous roll-out, with a set of 8-15 projects selected yearly.

In practice we're looking to accelerate projects that:

• Provide common Nordic access for start-up ecosystem organizations to marketing ang go-to-market initiatives.
• Increase common branding of the Nordic startup ecosystem
• Increase early and later stage private growth capital flow to the Nordic countries
• Support the internationalization of local start-ups

What we require from applicant projects:

• Participation of organizations from 3 Nordic countries.
• A short description of the applicant team and/or organization on previous work in bettering the startup ecosystem.
• Description of previous public funding received by the applicant prior to applying from 5 years.
• Max funding per accelerated project is 50 000€

What we are not looking to fund:

• Overhead costs related to the project or costs not directly related to executing the project.
• Direct commercial activities of applicant organizations.
