Adaptyv Biosystems raised CHF2.5 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Wingman Ventures
Adaptyv Biosystems, a Lausanne, Switzerland-based producer of the next generation of protein engineering, announced a pre-seed funding round closed at CHF 2.5 million ($2.7M).
The money was raised from investors from Switzerland, including Wingman Ventures.
Adaptyv Biosystems, founded in 2020 by Julian Englert, Moustafa Houmani, Amir Shahein and Daniel Nakhaee-Zadeh Gutierrez, develops the next generation of protein enigneering by closing the loop between computational prediction and experimental validation with cell-free synthetic biology and high-throughput nanofluidics. Using synthetic biology and machine learning, Adaptyv massively scales up the number of protein designs that can be explored - instead of relying on genetically engineered living cells to produce a protein of interest, cell-free systems consist only of the biochemical components needed to turn a DNA sequence into a protein. By avoiding the handling of living cells, cell-free systems can be miniaturized and automated, making them an ideal choice for high-throughput workflows that can screen thousands of protein variants in parallel.
Adaptyv Biosystems is one the European startups that were part of Y Combinator in the summer of 2021 and also was one of the interesting Euro startups part of YC21 summer program as featured by Nordic 9.
