Aligned Bio to get SEK 23M from Mist Ventures, Almi, STOAF and Fårö Capital

Aligned Bio, a Lund, Sweden-based single molecule detection company, announced an oversubscribed A round investment of SEK 23M ($2.8M).

The money was raised from Swedish investors led by STOAF III SciTech and Fårö Capital. Previous investors Almi Invest and MIST Ventures continued their participation.

The new money will be used to ramp production of its first product and conclude the development phase of its sequencer product.

Aligned Bio, founded in 2019 by CEO Erik Smith, is building a single molecule identification technology targeted for the biomedical market. Aligned Bio’s sensitivity is enabled by its patented nanowire production and alignment methods and its proprietary waveguiding technology. This low-cost single molecule/dye technology will form the core behind its long-read sequencing offering and fast and affordable protein and nucleic acid detection capability.
