Danish football club F.C. Copenhagen announced the creation of their esports division, North, and sign the ex-Dignitas players.
North is the name of a new e-sports organization founded by the Danish football club FC Copenhagen and Nordisk Film, a leading Nordic entertainment company.
The owners decided to hire Jacob "Milk" Toft-Andersen as sports director of North, and already have an elite Counter Strike team on board, namely former Dignitas players, who refused to renew their contract at the end of 2016.
North is equally owned by Nordisk Film and FC Copenhagen.
Nordisk Film, which is part of the media group Egmont, is the Nordic leader in entertainment, operates a number of online businesses and has extensive experience in building and marketing of entertainment brands.
FC Copenhagen will provide access to the Telia Parken training facilities for the North players, as well as the support and operational framework to deliver great performances.
The news comes after the announcement of RFRSH, a new Danish e-sport agency founded by Nikolaj Nyholm and seeded by Sunstone and other angel investors with a EUR 4M in seed investment.
