Insula acquired the Glyngøre brand from Orkla Foods.

Insula, a Leknes, Norway-based seafood holding announced that it acquired the Glyngøre brand from Orkla Foods Danmark.

The deal, which has the financial details undisclosed was made through Insula's company Amanda Seafoods A/S. Orkla Food's purpose of the divestment is to reduce portfolio complexity and concentrate on prioritised categories.

Amanda Seafoods, founded in 1916 and led by CEO Jesper Kold Sørensen, is a Denmark based producer and exporter of fish.

Glyngøre is Denmark's best known herring and tuna brand, and its product portfolio consists of processed seafood for the Danish grocery and food service sector. The brand was established in 1940, and had net sales totalling DKK 43 million (ca. NOK 56 million) in 2018.

Glyngøre was part of Orkla’s product range including Beauvais, Den Gamle Fabrik, Pastella, Bähncke and Risifrutti.
