Makeup Mekka was acquired by Varner.
Makeup Mekka, an Oslo, Norway-based company producing and selling online beauty products, was acquired by Varner, one of the largest fashion retailer from Scandinavia.
The financial details were not disclosed - according to the Norwegian media, the transaction sum is close to NOK 100 million ($11.8M) and post event, Varner will own 20% of the company's shares. In conjuction to the deal, Sverre Flåskjer and Andreas Lysdahl will join Makeup Mekka's board of directors.
Makeup Mekka, led by CEO Berit Sjøvik, was started in 2009 by the couple Hilde Johanessen Jeridi and Sammy Jeridi, which were joined in 2012 by Katja Ivarson and Hans Erik Horn as part owners. The company develops and sells products under its own makeup brand, Makeup Mecca and had about NOK 10M in sales in 2018.
