Peafowl Solar Power, an Uppsala, Sweden-based developer of customized solar cells for building integration, announced that it completed a SEK 5M ($520k) capital investment round.

The funding was supported by Almi Invest and other Swedish private investors.

Peafowl Solar Power, founded in 2018 as a spinoff from Uppsala University by Cristina Paun, Marina Freitag and CEO Jacinto Sá, is developing a new kind of a solar cell technology (plasmonic) suitable for outdoor and indoor usages. The resulted solar cells can be made transparent and colorless and be placed directly on different materials or units to be powered without being visible.

Peafowl is still in early stages, with a current focus on design of manufacturing processes, establishment of industrial partnerships and on product development together with pilot customers.
