Revonte, a Tampere, Finland-based startup working on a software-based e-bike drive system, secured a $2M capital investment.

The funding was backed by new investor Maki VC, and included existing investor Butterfly Ventures and undisclosed Finnish angel investors.

Revonte, founded in 2018 by CEO Antero Jalkanen, Otto Chrons and Iiro Peltola, built a software-based electric motorcycle engine. The engine's features are software-based as they connect to the cloud and/or via a mobile application.

The company is still in prototyping mode and expects to go to market in 2020-2021 when it also estimates to become a platform provider, as they intend to open all their service APIs to third-party developers to build and integrate great products with its system.

Prior to this investment round, Revonte raised almost EUR 800k in grants and equity from Business Finland and Butterfly Ventures.

Total investments received (USD): 2.46M
