TiendAnimal was acquired by the Peru-based Emefin.

Tiendanimal, a Malaga, Spain-based omnichannel operation for pets products, announced getting into an agreement for being acquired by Emefin, a Peru-based family office holding.

The deal, which has the financial details undisclosed, was made with existing owner, Miura Private Equity, which will exit the business. In 2019, TiendAnimal raised EUR 12.5M in debt and equity from Miura, Muzinich and LGT.

Tiendanimal, founded in 2006 and led by CEO Rafael Martínez-Avial, opened its first physical store in Malaga in 2012. The company currently has 1.2 million customers in Spain, Portugal, France and Italy, served via 65 points of sale, 15 veterinary clinics and 18 offices. In 2018, the company had sales of €90 million ($100M) and an Ebitda of € 7.3 million ($8M).

Emefin already owns the sectir leaders in Peru and Chile and at the end f 2019 it announced the acquisition of Kiwoko, also based in Spain. This operation will allow the group to boost its online business, as well as increase the 130 stores, 65 veterinary clinics and 11 pet hospitals.
