The Nordics is known as a great environment for their fintech startups, for many reasons - solid banks with great balance sheets, the consumer tech appetance and its widespread adoption in the society, and, not least, for already producing unicorns in the space, such as Klarna and iZettle.

And now that iZettle was sold two years ago to a strategic investor (PayPal) and Klarna is yet to commit publicly to a clear liquidity event, we thought it would be interesting to have a look at the new wave of the Nordic startups which are active in the financial service industry.

We analyzed almost 300 startup deals that we tracked in the Nordic financial services space from 2019 to date and selected the most interesting 15 of them, which we profiled in a report available here.

Some of them raised hundreds of millions of dollars. Other just a mere ten or so. Some of them are tech developers. And some of them use technology for building different sales channels. And others are simply inventing new stuff, targeting new consumer behaviours.

The report includes 4 fintech startups from Sweden, 4 from Norway, 4 from Denmark, 2 from Iceland and one from Finland
