Dryad Networks, a Berlin (Eberswalde), Germany-based IoT producer of enviromental solutions announced that it secured a capital investment round of €1.8 million ($2.1M).

The money was raised from a range of German strategic investors including STIHL Group, through its corporate venture arm STIHL Digital and the German energy firm LEAG. They were complemented by funds provided by the impact investor ISAR AG and by the VC firm Brandenburg Kapital, a subsidiary of Brandenburger Förderbank ILB.

Dryad Networks, founded in 2019 by CEO Carsten Brinkschulte and Marco Bönig, develops a large-scale IoT network that allows public and private forest owners to monitor, analyze and protect the world’s largest, most remote forests.

The initial focus is to develop a system for the ultra-early detection of wildfires - the solution comprises multiple technologies working together, including solar-powered sensors that use AI to detect gases emitted from wildfires at the smoldering stage as well as temperature, humidity and air pressure
