Getir announced raising $128M in a round led by Crankstart Foundation and Base Partners.

Getir, an Istanbul, Turkey-based food delivery company, announced completing a capital funding round totalling $128 million.

The money was raised from investors led by the Brazil-based VC Base Partners and by Michael Moritz of Sequoia fame via his charitable foundation Crankstart Foundation. Other investors contributing to the round included Tiger Global Management, Goodwater Capital, and a group of investors from Turkey - Revo Capital, Esas Holding, Fiba Holding and Re-Pie Asset Management.

The deal values the company at $850 million. Proceeds will be used to expand the business in locations including London, Sao Paolo, Paris and Mexico City.

Getir was founded in 2015 by Arkady Volozh, Doğancan Dalyan, Mert Salur, Nazım Salur, Serkan Borançılı and Tuncay Tütek and established an on-demand consumer delivery business. The company runs now a product range of 1,500 varieties of groceries delivered in an average of 10 minutes in 18 Turkish cities, including Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir.

Getir is one of the many online grocery startups from Europe funded by venture money and previously raised more than $40 million.
