Immersal, a Helsinki, Finland-based startup working on an augmented reality (AR) platform, announced that it completed a EUR 900k ($1M) capital investment round.

The funding was supported by angel investors, Sisu Game Ventures and Kasvumoottori Growth Engine ecosystem through Business Finland (the public funding agency for research funding in Finland).

The deal is part of a larger funding effort that Immersal will aim to close in the following months by raising EUR 700k more.

Immersal, founded in 2015 and led by CEO Jufo Peltomaa, has developed an AR Cloud SDK for 3D scanning and visual positioning. The company has previously developed a multi-user AR infotainment platform for Exhibition Center Helsinki in January 2017.

Immersal is backed by Finnish investors Presence Capital, Reaktor, Polkuni, Gumi Ventures and angel investors Bruce J. Oreck, Inka Mero, Torsti Tenhunen and Pasi Joronen.
