Karos raises €7 million from Macif and the European Commission
Karos, a Paris, France-based software startup specializing in carpooling, announced that it raised €7 million ($8.3M).
The money was raised from Macif, via its subsidiary Macif Innovation, and from the European Commission via its venture capital fund EIC Fund.
The proceeds will be used to expand in Europe by deploying first in Denmark, in partnership with FDM, a major operator of mobility services.
Karos, founded in 2014 by Olivier Binet and Tristan Croiset, a former Criteo and Google employee, is developing a platform aimed at promoting carpooling between home and work. From the app, users can find individuals with whom to share their trips to work or home.
The startup currently claims more than 400,000 users in France and more than 150 business and local government customers, producing €2.8 million euros in turnover in 2020.
