Lunar announced a €70 million capital funding round.
Lunar, an Aarhus, Denmark-based company operating a digital platform for providing financial services, announced a new capital funding round closed at €70 million ($77M), dubbed as an extension to Series D.
The money was raised from existing investors and will accomodate American actor Will Ferrell into the captable as part of a marketing representation deal. The initial series D was closed at €210 million back in 2021 and was led by Nordic investors Kinnevik and Heartland joined by China's Tencent, IDC Ventures, Fuel Ventures, MW&L Capital Partners and Peter Mühlmann, the founder and CEO of Trustpilot.
In conjunction with the investment, Lunar announced launching a crypto trading platform and B2B payments for its small and medium business customers.
Lunar, founded in 2015 as LunarWay and led by CEO Ken Villum Klausen, provides a range of financial services including insurance, savings, budgets, loans or investments via a mobile application. The company also operates a banking licence and launched a challenger bank providing free accounts and a subscription-based service called Lunar Premium.
Lunar raised a total of $370 million since its start.
