sensiBel, an Oslo, Norway-based company manufacturing a ultra-high-sensitivity MEMS microphone, announced completing series A equity financing round closed at €15 million ($16.3M).

The money was raised from investors led by Trumpf Venture, joined by the EIC Fund and Norwegian VC investors Skagerak Capital, Investinor, and SINTEF Venture IV.

The proceeds will be used for ramping up the company's production capabilities and support development and research activities.

sensiBel, founded as AOD Labs in 2016 as a spinoff from Sintef by Matthieu Lacolle and Jakob Vennerød and led by CEO Sverre Dale Moen, has developed a miniature microphone with high performance and low noise, suitable for use in voice control, noise canceling headphones, video conferencing systems and professional-quality audio recording in cameras and mobile phones. The first type of products from sensiBel using this technology will be the sensiBel MEMS microphones, providing a quantum leap in performance compared to competition.

Prior to this round, sensiBel raised $6 million in 2020.
