Wolt acquires Daily, gets Alfabeat as investor
Wolt, the Helsinki, Finland-based food delivery company, announced the acquisition of the Polish competitor Daily.
Daily which operates on the food delivery market from Poland - they provide an application which displays a list of nearby restaurants. After choosing a dish, the client can make an order and follow the stages of its realization.
Following the deal, Daily's investor, Alfabeat, will become an investor in Wolt. Daily raised money from Alfabeat in 2017.
The Internet food delivery market will grow by a dozen or so percent annually in the coming years, according to global forecasts. There are several companies in the world that offer food delivery services. In the United States these are, among others GrubHub or DoorDash. Biggest players in Europe are Deliveroo, UBEReats and Wolt.
The Wolt platform is already present in almost 40 cities in 13 countries of the Old Continent. The company cooperates with 2500 restaurants, 3000 thousand couriers and employs several hundred people. It is present in Poland since August.
