Sifted.eu made an interesting survey among its readers, which resulted in a list with more than 80 people from Europe, mostly founders contributing to creating a better world through their work. It is an interesting list, with people you may never heard of but whose work definitely has an impact - we encourage you to consult it here.

We extracted from it the names of those people who are making a contribution from the Nordic countries. You can find the list below, together with a short description of their work.

 Alexander Zahari   
Alexander Zahari is a Swedish founder at Norrköping-based Young Capital which develops Edventures, a startup building an education platform improving young people's entrepreneurial skills.

Carolin Desiree Töpfer   
Carolin Desiree Töpfer is a German founder of Estonian startup Cyttraction, focusing on remotely teaching employees about key risks like cybersecurity.

Esben Østergaard   
Esben Østergaard is known as founder of the now American-owned Universal Robots, located in Odense. In 2020 he founded Lifeline Robotics, a robotics solution to automate and deploy COVID-19 human test capacity. The company was founded in collaboration with Faculty of Engineering, Syddansk Universitet (University of Southern Denmark) and is privately backed by the Swedish venture fund Norrsken VC.

Fred Krieger   
Fred Krieger is known as founder and CEO at Scoro. Scoro was founded in Estonia in 2013 and operates a business based on SAAS platform that helps to access, manage and automate data for remote workers. The company is backed by the Finnish Inventure, Estonian Tera VC and Latvian Livonia Partners.

Gerda Larsson   
Gerda Larsson is the founder at The Case for Her, a Swedish philanthropic investment company addressing the key women’s health issues of menstruation and female sexual health through grants, investments, convenings, and advocacy. Prior to this, she worked for Mitt Alby, a socially oriented company focused on acquiring well-managed properties.

 Heidi Lindvall   
Heidi Lindvall is one of the three founders of the Pale Blue Dot VC, a “climate only” venture capital firm located in Malmö, Sweden. Prior to this, she worked for two startup accelerators from Sweden, Fast Track Malmö and Minc, and founded a company, Storygami, in 2013.

Inna Braverman   
Inna Braverman is an Israeli entrepreneur, founder at Eco Wave Power, an energy producer generating electricity from wave power. The company was founded in 2011 and is listed on Nasdaq First North Growth Market from Sweden

 Linda Portnoff   
Linda Portnoff is the founder at Riteband, a Swedish startup developing a global online stock market for music offering trade in rites, i.e. shares of future cash flows from music copyrights. Riteband is backed by Unconventional Ventures.

Mattias Lepp   
Mattias Lepp is the founder and CEO at Click and Grow, an Estonia-based developer of smart indoor gardens designed to grow plants hyper-locally. The company raised almost $20 million and is backed, among others, by Ingka Group, a Dutch holding company that controls most of the IKEA stores (374 units in 30 countries)

Melanie Aronson   
Melanie Aronson is an American living in Lisbon, Portugal and known as founder of a Swedish startup, Panion, a social network for businesses. Panion is backed by Nordic investors, including David Helgason, Sune Alstrup and Klaus Nyengaard. Back in 2019, we profiled Panion here.
