CloudCutOut (private company)

CloudCutout was founded by Henrik Paltoft and Toke Jansen in 2014 after having worked together for a couple of years digitising another of Henrik’s companies, Image2Work.

Henrik has worked 20 years in the graphical industry becoming a recognised expert in image optimization.

Toke is an honour's student from Technical University of Denmark’s division of machine learning and they came up with the idea to build CloudCutout. Henrik had access to thousands of images and great cutouts of all. Toke had the know-how to build an algorithm enabling an automatic move from the original to the cutout.

By the end of 2014, Jacob and Jonas joined the company as Partners bringing years of valuable experience to the ambitious startup. Jacob from the image enhancement and machine learning field and Jonas from 15+ years of working with international IT startups from the commercial and administrative angle.

In March 2015 the biggest Danish Venture Capitalist, SEED Capital, invested in CloudCutout and strengthened by this financial injection it is the company vision to become "the world's #1 software for cutout creation".

In shot, CloudCutOut is a plug-in for Photoshop that automatically removes the background from images.

Initially, the technology is targeted at e-commerce field, where photos of products is a large market. Thousands of pictures are daily cut out by hand of cheap labor in Bangladesh, Vietnam or China, with graphic artists sitting and using Adobe Photoshop. Today is handled by a clipping of an image anywhere from 2-30 minutes. By comparison CloudCutout’s solution expose this type of images in seconds.
