Hacking The Energy Collective

The Energy Collective is the leading blockchain research energy project in Denmark. In the common effort to develop a local economy around energy we need you: Coders, graphic designers, entrepreneurs, hippies, geeks and hipsters. On the 21st and 22nd of April, come and co-create sustainable prototypes of our common future.

Not far from Copenhagen, the 20 households of the Roskilde ecovillage are all powered by solar PVs. Sofar 5 households, the main building and a charging station for electric vehicles are connected. The blockchain used is Ethereum and Raiden to allow for instant transactions.

Below are some of the prototypes we think would be interested to work on to help the community explore how they can develop further a local economy based around energy. Successful projects will get an opportunity to present their projects June 1st at a public event as part of the in the research project: The energy collective.

LOCAL CURRENCY MODEL
The energy collective allows the residents to exchange energy between each other, but how can they create their own local economy from the energy exchange and exchange it easily with each other?

How can a local banking system be created so the residents can offer each other loans and maybe charge their cars on a credit?

Within a community they should use their energy data to work towards becoming self sufficient on Energy, but what data should be stored and how to preserve each residents privacy?

VISUALIZATION OF THE LOCAL ECONOMY
An energy collective can be hard to understand for people not having a larger understanding. How can the value flows within the communities or within several communities be visualized for other people to get an understanding?

CROWDFUNDING OF FUTURE ENERGY
The energy collective currently relies only on solar power, which provides little energy during night and during winter. How could the community become more self sufficient on energy by buying the future energy of a wind turbine or a large battery installation?

SIMPLIFY CHARGING WITH ELECTRICAL VEHICLE
When residents are charging their cars there should be a seamless experience allowing carowners to charge their cars while ensuring that the correct persons are credited / charged.
