Anima Connected adds $16M more in capital, aims for profitability.
Anima Connected, a Malmö, Sweden-based company developing smart, simple designed and connected products, including analog watch line Kronaby, secured SEK 145M ($16M) in fresh capital from its existing investor, the Chinese company Goertek Inc.
The money will be used to support the company's efforts to reach profitability while expanding operations, now present in 33 countries.
Anima, led by CEO Pål Borge, was founded in 2015 as a joint venture with a EUR 10M investment from Goertek together with former employees from Sony Mobile: Fredrik Rosén, Sarandis Kalogeropulos and Thomas Sandelius. The company has recorded losses of SEK 130M ($14.6M) in 2017.
Prior to this capital infusion, Anima has received about $23M in capital investment from its Chinese investor.
