Blippar in a $5 million round backed by Chroma Ventures.
Blippar, a London, UK-based developer of a Augmented Reality (AR) software solutions, announced completing a $5 million Pre-Series A funding round.
The money was raised from investors co-led by Chroma Ventures, the investment arm of Paddy Burns’ and Chris van der Kuyl’s gaming company 4J Studios, and West Coast Capital, the private equity arm of Scottish entrepreneur Sir Tom Hunter and family, with participation from Globalive Capital.
As a part of the round, Chris van der Kuyl and tech entrepreneur Justin Cooke joined the Blippar Board.
The funding will be used to further develop the company’s technology, and accelerate its growth in key markets, including the US, Europe, and Asia.

Blippar was founded in 2014 and went bankrupt in 2018 after spending more than $180 million.
The company now led by Faisal Galaria, specialises in augmented reality on mobile apps and Web applications as it was relaunched in 2020 with AR content creation and publishing to any smartphone and the web. Its AR creation and publishing platform, Blippbuilder, enables everyone from teachers to creative technologists globally to create and publish their own AR experiences. Blippar’s augmented reality studio, “Studio B”, incorporates a team of strategic advisors and designers that can create a bespoke AR campaign to meet individual KPIs.
