Blocket merges with Byt Bil Nordic, strengthens position in the automotive market.

Blocket, a Stockholm, Sweden-based online marketplace owned by Norwegian media company Schibsted, announced merging with Byt Bil, a local online marketplace for the auto industry. The financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed and Byt Bil Nordic will be dissolved after the merger takes place.

Blocket, launched in 1996 by Henrik Nordström and acquired by Schibsted in 2003, is a Swedish online marketplace and one of the most popular website in the country, third largest site with over 4.5 million unique visitors a week.

Bytbil.com was established in 1997 as an online marketplace for the auto industry.
