Blok was acquired by Getir.

Blok, a Barcelona, Spain-based startup building an online grocery delivery service, announced that it was acquired by the Istanbul-based bigger competitor Getir.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Blok, founded at the end of 2020 by Vishal Verma, Hunab Moreno and Varun Kapoor, is active in local markets from Spain and Italy, including Madrid, Barcelona and Milan. The company has 120 employees, and was backed by Cavalry Ventures, Lanai and angel investors.

Getir, founded in 2015 by Arkady Volozh, Doğancan Dalyan, Mert Salur, Nazım Salur, Serkan Borançılı and Tuncay Tütek, established an on-demand consumer delivery business across Europe. The company raised about $1 billion in venture money, last round in 2021 closed at half a billion.

Getir is one of the many online grocery startups from Europe funded by professional investors.
