Bright Star Studios raised $700k from Play Ventures
Bright Star Studios, an Aarhus, Denmark-based gaming studio, announced that it secured a $700K pre-seed investment round.
The investment round was led by Play Ventures and included participation from Galaxy Interactive.
At the same time, Allan Kirkeby, former Unity Studios CEO, joins as Senior Producer and Andreas Thorstensson, Popdog, and SK Gaming co-founder, joins as an advisor.
The money will be used to expand the development team and accelerate the launch of Ember Sword, which is expected to hit the market in 2022.
Bright Star Studios, founded in 2019 by CEO Mark Laursen, is working for the development of Ember Sword, an MMORPG that will launch as a free-to-play game. The game is built on an underlying blockchain technology which will allow for an open economy in which every player participates. Players can jump straight into the action, without the need for time consuming downloads. In addition the business model is free of loot boxes and pay-to-win elements. The shop will only offer cosmetics, similar to the way games like League of Legends and Fortnite make billions every year.
