byrd Germany secured €5 million in Series A funding from Rider Global,Venture Friends, FJ Labs

byrd, a Berlin, Germany and Vienna, Austria-based developer of a software fulfillment platform for ecommerce operators, announced that it completed series A funding totalling €5M ($5.7M).

The round was led by by Rider Global, and included contributions from Venture Friends, FJ Labs, and existing investors.

The money will be used for expanding the company's virtual warehouse network to let retailers in eight markets ship worldwide by the end of the year.

byrd, founded in 2016 by Alexander Leichter (CEO) and Petra Dobrocka,  built a fulfillment network that connects online merchants to an international warehouse network, enabling retailers to offer advanced shipping options on an international scale without needing to build their own logistics network.

The company’s fulfillment platform integrates with leading e-commerce systems such as Shopify and qualified logistics partners in multiple countries, bringing retailers closer to their customers. Its tech-driven logistics solution uses digital interfaces to connect e-commerce systems to its warehouse management system, which is used by partner-warehouses internationally. The company, supported by 60 employees, is active in its core markets in Germany and Austria, and has fulfillment locations in the UK, expecting will launch new locations in Netherlands and France.

The company claims to be able to ship 10,000 orders per day from more than 10 different warehouses, with storage capacities of more than 500,000 square meters.
