Cfengine Completes Series A Investment

Cfengine announced the completion of a Series A investment of NOK 30 million by Ferd Capital, a privately-owned Norwegian industrial and financial group.

Cfengine, owned by Northern.tech is the original and leading vendor of open source configuration management solutions, used by the IT industry to keep datacenters running. Its products are installed on millions of servers world wide. The company has been profitable since its inception in 2008.

"We expect to see fundamental changes in the IT Operations industry in the next few years," said Bjorn Erik Reinseth, Partner of Ferd Capital. "Cfengine is the thought leader among the new generation of solution providers, and we believe they will be a game changer and capture a significant share of this market."

Professor Mark Burgess, CTO and founder of Cfengine, created the technology as a completely new way to manage servers. "Cfengine is investing in the future of true IT automation, like no other company. We are pushing the limits of technology to provide the tools for the next decade and beyond, and we are growing to make that vision possible."

Thomas Ryd, CEO of Cfengine, said, "The investment will enable us to accelerate the growth of the company and invest in the success of our customers". The company's new US headquarter will be located in Palo Alto, California, and in addition a new office in the New York area is planned. Thomas Ryd plans to move to the US in the near future.

Along with the investment there is a new Board of Directors consisting of Mark Burgess (CTO, Cfengine), Christen Krogh (Chief Development Officer, Opera), Bjorn Erik Reinseth (Partner, Ferd), Dagfinn Teigland (Ferd) and Chairman Haavard Nord (former CEO, Trolltech).
