Elektron Music Machines raises capital from Arctos Equity.
Elektron, a Gothenburg, Sweden-based manufacturer of professional synthesisers in the premium segment, announced getting into an investment agreement with the private equity investor from Sweden Arctos Equity Partners.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Arctos Equity Partner initially acquires 28 percent of Elektron, with the option to increase its ownership to 45 percent in 2017. The majority of the investment is made through a directed rights issue in Elektron. The capital will be used to launch new products and for geographical expansion. The company’s main shareholder, Jonas Hillman, remains as CEO with a significant shareholding after the acquisition.
Elektron, founded in 1998, was acquired in 2005 by the current main owner, Jonas Hillman. The company is a manufacturer of electronic musical instruments supported by 35 employees based out of offices in Gothenburg, Los Angeles and Tokyo. Exports today account for more than 90 percent of sales.
