FabricNano in a $12.5 million funding round backed by Atomico.
FabricNano, a London, UK-based cell-free biomanufacturing company, announced closing a $12.5 million investment deal.
The money was raised from investors led by UK-based VC Atomico, joined by Backed, Hoxton Ventures, and Entrepreneur First, as well as angel investors Biz Stone (Twitter co-founder), Emma Watson (UN Sustainability Ambassador), Arvind Gupta (Indiebio founder and Mayfield partner), Alexander Moscho (former CEO Bayer), Michael Stoppelman (former Yelp SVP Engineering), Elvie founder Tania Boler, and Vijay Pandurangan (former Twitter NY engineering site lead).
As part of this round, Atomico Partner Siraj Khaliq will join FabricNano’s board.
This funding will enable FabricNano to accelerate the scaleup of its FabricFlow reactor technology, starting with sustainably synthesising chemicals used in plastics and personal care products
FabricNano, founded in 2018 by Ferdinando Randisi and CEO Grant Aarons, is building an alternative to petroleum based chemicals through its cell-free DNA-based flow reactor that produces biochemicals by engineering enzymes with the ability to bind directly to DNA. The company previously raised $3.3 million in 2019.
