Fortum Charge & Drive announces the acquisition of German Plugsurfing.
Fortum Charge & Drive, an Espoo, Finland-based company providing a cloud-based SAAS solution for electric vehicle charging service providers, announced the acquisition of Berlin-based startup Plugsurfing GmbH.
The financial details remain undisclosed, while the transaction is made for 100% ownership.
Plugsurfing, founded in 2012, developed an independent charging service for electric vehicles via an intelligent application providing charging and payment services. The company has 15 employees and connects its userbase of 50,000 electric vehicle drivers to over 200 charging networks, allowing them to charge at more than 65,000 chargers across 24 European countries. Plugsurfing was funded by 1776 and EIT Digital Accelerator.
Fortum Charge & Drive, led by vice-president Rami Syväri, developed a cloud solution that enables charge point operators to remotely manage charging stations. The company works with service operators, businesses, and governmental organizations and is active in 17 countries
