Hexagem, a Sweden-based nanotechnology company, received an equity investment of SEK 2M ($230k). The money comes mostly from Almi Invest, and includes a participation from the company's founder.

Hexagem, founded in a small city near Lund in 2015, provides a new semiconductor technology to make electronics more reliable, efficient and stable.

The company has its origin in the research work in nanotechnology by professors Lars Samuelsson and Jonas Ohlsson at the University of Lund. As such, Hexagem is developing a technology based on nanowires of semiconductor material gallium nitride (GaN), which provides energy-efficient electricity grid and 5G applications. By using GaN instead of silicon in the radios can get a faster transfer rate and higher power level in the upcoming 5G networks.

Hexagem will use the investment for further business development and validation of the technology.
