Heja in a $4.2 million seed round led by Peak Capital.

Heja, a Stockholm, Sweden-based startup working on a communication platform for sports management, announced securing a $4.2 million capital funding round.

The money was raised from investors led by the Dutch investors from Peak Capital, joined by a range of Swedish ones including Luminar Ventures, Bonnier Ventures, Inbox Capital, and Max Ventures, as well as angel Investors Ted Nelson and Mattias Weinhandl.

Heja, started in Örebro as Laget.se by CEO Mikael Blix and Johan Berglund, developed a communication platform for sports team management and which can be used as a mobile messaging app for coaches, managers, parents and players. The software is sold on a freemium model, with a Pro version offering a range of new features, including desktop access, payment tracking, attendance statistics, and document sharing.

Heja says its solution is in use by 140,000 teams and 1.1 million users from 50 countries. It previously raised $2.7 million in 2018.
