Hukka AI, a Porvoo (Helsinki), Finland-based SAAS developer for food waste in the restaurant business, announced completing a financing round of €280k ($340k).

The money was raised from investors from Finland including Gorilla Capital, Quilo Group and angel investors whose name was not disclosed. Business Finland also contributed with a non-equity financial product of about €160k. The funding will be used for product development and internationalisation.

Hukka AI, founded in 2019 by Joonas Kesälahti and CEO Tuure Karhu, is developing an intelligent tool to reduce food waste and increase profits in professional kitchens. The tool provides kitchens with intel to adjust production and orders from suppliers, leading to significant reductions in food waste.

Hukka is currently being piloted by over 20 organisations in Finland, and a collaboration with a leading foodservice wholesaler is set to commence next year.
