LanguageWire acquires Xplanation, consolidates its global position.
LanguageWire, a Frederiksberg, Denmark-based company managing a language service marketplace, announced that it acquired Xplanation, a language services provider headquartered in Belgium.
The financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed. Following the acquisition, LanguageWire’s headcount rises to approximately 350 employees in 19 offices across 13 countries. In addition, the network of freelance translators and language experts increases from 5,000 to 8,000.
LanguageWire, founded in 2000 and led by CEO Henrik Lottrup, developed a software as a service solution that provides content in multiple languages to corporate businesses.
The company is owned by Catacap, which purchased the majority package in 2017, is based in Denmark, with offices in seven other countries and accounted for DKK 50M ($8.3M) in turnover in 2017.
LanguageWire and Xplanation’s core markets and industry knowledge complement each other well, creating a stronger offering for existing and potential customers. The combined customer portfolio of 3,000+ customers will be better served through a broader product and service portfolio. The company continues under the LanguageWire name, and the development of unique technologies remains at the centre.
