Layer to get €5 million in a seed funding round led by Index Ventures with participation from pre-seed backer btov Partners.
Layer, a Berlin, Germany-based software company working for an alternative to spreadsheets, announced that it completed a €5 million ($5.7M) seed investment round.
The money was provided by investors led by Index Ventures and including the pre-seed backer btov Partners, and angels Ajay Vashee, Carlos Gonzales-Cadenaz, Felix Jahn, Matt Robinson, and Max Tayenthal.
Proceeds will be used to take the prdocut to market, expected for 2021.
Layer, founded in 2019 by Constantin Schünemann, Moritz ten Eikelder, David Barnowsky and Ernests Karlsons, are working to develop a better spreasheet software solution, which adds collaboration and workflow features on top of MS Excel and Google Sheets. The app is still in private beta.
Prior to this round, in 2019, Layer raised pre seed funding of €1 million.
