Mainframe Industries announced €2 million funding from Maki.vc, Play Ventures, Crowberry Capital, and Sisu Game Ventures
Mainframe Industries, a Reykjavik, Iceland and Helsinki, Finland-based startup working on the development of an open world, social sandbox MMO for cloud gaming, announced its official launching and getting funded by external investors with €2 million ($2.2M).
The seed round was backed by early stage tech and gaming investors from the Nordic countries, including Maki.vc, Play Ventures, Crowberry Capital and Sisu Game Ventures. Following their investment, Harri Manninen and Hekla Arnardóttir have joined the board while Samuli Syvähuoko has been appointed as non-executive Chairman of the company.
Mainframe Industries was founded in 2019 by Börkur Eiríksson, Kjartan Pierre Emilsson, Thor Gunnarsson, Fridrik Haraldsson, Reynir Hardarson, Sulka Haro, Kristján Valur Jónsson, Jyrki Korpi-Anttila, Saku Lehtinen, Ansu Lönnberg, Eetu Martola, Vigfús Ómarsson, Jón Helgi Thórarinsson. Thor Gunnarsson will be the CEO.
The company will will work on an open-world, social sandbox MMO specifically designed for cloud gaming, with cross-platform play across mobile, PC, and TV. Mainframe believes that the promise of friction-free access from social networks and streaming platforms on the device of your choice will greatly expand the creative canvas for game developers.
