MeiliSearch rasied $5M in a round led by CRV

MeiliSearch, a Paris, France-based software startup building an open-source search engine, announced completing a pre-seed round closed at $5 million.

The money was raised from investors led by American investors from CRV, joined by Seedcamp, LocalGlobe and angel investors Robin Vasan (Mango Capital) and Guillermo Rauch (CEO of Vercel).

MeiliSearch, founded in 2018 by Clément Renault, CEO Quentin de Quelen and Thomas Payet, built an open-source, lightning-fast, and hyper-relevant search engine that fits effortlessly into apps, websites, and workflows. The engine has 20k stars on GitHub, almost 100k developers using it every month, and thousands of servers in production.

MeiliSearch was initially pre-seeded by LocalGlobe and Seedcamp in 2020.
