Nordic Seafarm to raise SEK 20 million from JCE Ventures, Almi Invest, and Kale United

Nordic Seafarm, a Gothenburg, Sweden-based alternative plant-based food producer, announced completing a SEK 20 million ($2.2M) capital funding round.

The money was raised locally from Sweden, from investors including JCE Ventures, Almi Invest, and Kale United. Angel investors contributing to the round include chef Thomas Sjögren and Magdalena Gerger.

Nordic Seafarm, founded in 2016 by CEO Simon Johansson, produces and sells the organic products sugar kelp and sea lettuce made out of seaweed. The company says it recently received permission to cultivate in the ocean for about 29 hectares and works with restaurants and food producers, which use the seaweed as a climate-friendly seasoning and nutritional booster.
