Norsep secures funding from Statkraft Ventures.

Norsep, a Porsgrunn, Norway-based manufacturer of a technology for recycling hazardous waste, announced that it added funding from Statkraft Ventures.

Financial details were not disclosed. Statkraft Ventures will initially take a 14% stake in Norsep, with the stated intent to expand the collaboration as Statkraft Ventures has an option to increase its stake to over 35%.

Norsep, founded , has developed a process which can be implemented at WtE (waste-to-energy) plants to reduce the problems of fly ash. The company uses a process that converts hazardous waste fly ash from WtE plants into non-toxic residue and commercially attractive products. The Norsep process treats fly ash by dissolving it in hydrochloric acid, filtering the undissolved fly ash, and destroying the organic toxins using heat treatment. The process is controlled by the patented Norsep processing algorithm.

The company has been testing its tech since 2015 and laucnhed a pilot test facility in 2018-19, officially opened by the Minister of Climate and Environment from Norway.
